A True West Coast Love Story

Some love stories are written in the stars, but Sarah and Eric’s was written in the towering forests and misty coastlines of Vancouver Island. This adventurous, fun-loving couple thrives in the great outdoors, where they spend their time hiking, camping, and exploring together. Their love for nature—and for each other—was the inspiration behind their breathtaking wedding at Owl Grove in Sooke, BC.

Sarah and Eric share an undeniable energy, the kind that lights up every room—or in their case, every forest. Their bond was built on shared passions, particularly their love for multi-day hiking. Having conquered the 47km Juan de Fuca Marine Trail together, they developed a deep appreciation for the beauty of the West Coast. The fog, the rain, the ocean breeze—it all felt like home. It was only fitting that their wedding day would be infused with the same wild, untamed beauty.

Their love story began on a different kind of stage—when Eric, a musician, was performing at a show. Sarah felt an instant connection, drawn in by his presence. Over time, their chemistry deepened, blending Sarah’s vibrant, infectious energy with Eric’s easygoing, steady charm. Their family wouldn’t be complete without their two Australian Shepherds, Jasper and Fernie, who match their adventurous spirits and even boast their own Instagram page!

The Wedding Day

Getting Ready Sarah and Eric chose to spend their morning separately, preparing for the day in two equally serene locations. Eric and his groomsmen, along with their dog Jasper, got ready in a nearby Airbnb, while Sarah and her bridesmaids enjoyed the cozy guest accommodations on-site at Owl Grove.

The Ceremony Set atop a grassy knoll surrounded by lush forest, Sarah and Eric exchanged vows in the rain—an authentic West Coast experience. Their venue, Owl Grove, offered the perfect setting, with Arbutus trees, moss-covered Oaks, and sweeping views of the Juan de Fuca Strait. As raindrops fell gently around them, the couple embraced the moment, proving that a little rain only adds to the magic. Their guests, huddled under umbrellas, watched with full hearts as Sarah and Eric tied the knot, with Jasper standing proudly among the groomsmen.

The Portraits After the ceremony, the rain lightened just enough for portraits across the stunning property. From the towering Oak trees to the cliffside overlooking the ocean, every location was a dream. The couple stole a quiet moment together in a small forest clearing, taking in the view of the Juan de Fuca Strait—a place that held so much meaning for them. Under the cover of weeping Willows and alongside the reflective pond, their love shone through in every frame.

The Reception The celebration continued in Owl Grove’s charming reception space, where guests gathered under the spacious tent to enjoy a cozy and intimate evening. A taco feast brought warmth and laughter, followed by heartfelt speeches, a lively dance floor, and the sweetest sparkler exit. One of the most memorable moments of the night? Eric picking up his guitar and performing with his band, while Sarah beamed from the front row, watching her husband do what he loves. It was the perfect ending to a day as rich and beautiful as their love story.
