Some weddings just hit differently, and Cameron and Alisen’s celebration on Gambier Island was one for the books! This stunning Vancouver wedding brought together breathtaking scenery, meaningful details, and a sense of adventure that perfectly reflected the couple’s love story.
Cameron first reached out after remembering us from a wedding we shot for their friend last year. As a fellow photographer, we clicked instantly, geeking out over gear and tech. Their vision for a wedding at Camp Latona was both personal and unique—Gambier Island was where they first met, making it the perfect setting for their big day.
The Perfect Vancouver Wedding Venue
Nestled amidst the beauty of British Columbia, Camp Latona on Gambier Island offers a serene yet adventurous backdrop for weddings. The island’s ferry schedule is tight, which meant we had to work efficiently, but the effort was well worth it. Cameron gave us a quick tour of the stunning campgrounds before the festivities began.
The morning kicked off with games for the guests—zip lining, paddleboarding, and even a ropes course. It was a perfect way to showcase the couple’s fun-loving spirit and give everyone a taste of the natural beauty that makes weddings in the Vancouver area so special. While the guys got their adrenaline fix on the zip line, Alisen soaked in the serene ocean views as she got ready.
A Ceremony to Remember
The ceremony itself was a perfect mix of meaningful and hilarious. Their officiant, a close friend, had everyone in stitches, kicking things off with Cheetos to make their first kiss extra “cheesy” and even pulling out 99 Bananas liquor before the ring exchange. The heartfelt vows were exchanged under a driftwood arch, handmade by Alisen’s brother from pieces collected on their family’s beach. Framed by breathtaking mountains, sparkling ocean views, and lush greenery, this Vancouver wedding moment was nothing short of magical.
Golden Hour Perfection
As the day rolled into golden hour, we captured portraits while racing to catch the ferry. The timing couldn’t have been more perfect—the sun dipped behind the mountains just as we wrapped up, literally shooting until we stepped onto the ferry. The golden light and natural surroundings truly elevated every frame, a hallmark of weddings in Vancouver and the surrounding islands.
We feel so lucky to have been part of Cameron and Alisen’s incredible day. As Canadian wedding photographers, it’s an honour to document love stories like theirs—filled with adventure, laughter, and so much heart.
