Featured Wedding: Cassandra & Cory’s Elegant Wildflower Wedding at The Coutts Centre

On a picturesque June day in the Alberta countryside, Cassandra and Cory tied the knot at The Coutts Centre for Western Heritage in Nanton, surrounded by wildflowers, rolling fields, and the kind of love that was years in the making. Their wedding was a perfect reflection of who they are: joyful, grounded, and full of heart. With every detail designed to let nature take centre stage, this celebration was as timeless as it was breathtaking — captured beautifully by Calgary-based wedding photographer Nadine Mckenney Photography.

About the Couple and Their Day

Cassandra and Cory’s love story began with a spark and a long game of patience. Cory first noticed Cassandra at a snowy football game in 2018, where she danced on the field as a professional cheerleader for the Calgary Stampeders. It wasn’t until they crossed paths at work months later that he got his chance — but it would take two more years (and one very chilly walk in -16°C weather!) before Cassandra agreed to go on a date.

From that frosty walk bloomed a beautiful relationship. Three years later, Cory proposed, and on June 5, 2024, they were married among the blooms at The Coutts Centre. They envisioned a day that celebrated the beauty of Alberta’s landscape and the natural rhythm of their love story — romantic, relaxed, and unforced.

Photos from the Wedding

Cassandra began her day getting ready at her family home, a space filled with warmth, memories, and quiet anticipation. Cory prepared at The Coutts Centre, soaking in the peaceful countryside before the excitement of the day began.

Ceremony Location: The Tree Alley at The Coutts Centre for Western Heritage
A picturesque outdoor aisle lined with trees, the ceremony space felt like a secret garden. With sunlight filtering through the branches and wildflowers dancing in the breeze, it was a dreamlike setting for their vows.

What Made This Wedding Special

The magic of this wedding was in its authenticity. Rather than opting for flashy décor or extravagant moments, Cassandra and Cory let their love — and the Alberta countryside — lead the way.

The wildflowers weren’t brought in, they were already there. The ceremony wasn’t overly staged, it was serene and sincere. Even the fashion choices spoke to timeless romance: Cassandra’s gown from La Perle Blanche (via Ethos Bridal) featured intricate lace details and a silhouette that felt effortlessly graceful, while Cory’s suit from The Bridal Centre brought a refined yet relaxed energy to the day.

And then there’s the story. A two-year wait for that first date. A winter walk that warmed their hearts. A proposal after three years of love. Their wedding wasn’t just the start of a new chapter — it was the celebration of everything it took to get there.
