Alberta Wedding Photographer Chelsea Page of Lovestruck Portraits

Before she was wading through rivers or dancing behind the camera at Alberta weddings, Chelsea Page first fell in love with photography thanks to a tiny orange film camera from a Happy Meal. She was six years old, wide-eyed and fascinated by the idea that a plastic toy could preserve the joy of a moment. That sense of wonder never left her. It became the seed of a career devoted to real, unfiltered storytelling.

Today, Chelsea is the creative force behind Lovestruck Portraits, a wedding photography business rooted in authenticity, fun, and connection. Based in Irricana, Alberta and originally from Saskatoon, Chelsea brings a true-to-life, joy-driven energy to every wedding she photographs. Her goal is simple but powerful: to make couples feel seen, relaxed, and deeply themselves.

"Most of my clients say it felt more like hanging out with a friend than a photoshoot," Chelsea explains. "That makes me feel like I’m doing something right."

From Grease to Glass: A Unique Journey

Chelsea’s path to photography wasn’t linear. Before earning a degree in photography, she trained to be a mechanic. She also danced and modeled, which gave her both technical awareness and deep comfort in front of the camera. These early experiences shaped her into a photographer who knows exactly how to guide couples through portraits with ease and empathy.

Her first official shoot came at 15, capturing her friends’ modeling portfolios. At 18, she vowed never to shoot weddings. That changed in 2007, when her best friend asked her to document her big day. Chelsea fell hard for the emotion, movement, and organized chaos of a wedding day. Within a year, she had booked 11 weddings on her own and second-shot seven more.

From early gigs posted in local newspapers and on Kijiji to full calendars filled by word-of-mouth, Chelsea built her business from the ground up. She’s mentored by industry icons like Sue Bryce and supported by peers in the Professional Photographers of Canada (PPOC).

What It's Like to Work with Chelsea

Chelsea now shoots 15–20 weddings a year across Alberta, Saskatchewan, and British Columbia, with a few destination weddings sprinkled in. She's captured love stories in Jamaica, Mexico, and across the U.S. Her style is best described as true-to-colour, fun, and romantic—a blend of spontaneity and intention.

She tailors her approach to each couple, adapting to whether they want playful energy or timeless elegance. During the getting-ready portion of the day, she captures organic candids with minimal interference. During portraits, she shifts into a coaching mode, offering direction while encouraging movement and emotion. And by the time the reception rolls around, she fades back into documentary mode, preserving the evening as it unfolds.

Whether she's photographing a barefoot ceremony in the Rockies or a candlelit dance floor on the Prairies, Chelsea's goal remains the same: to create photographs that reflect real personality and heartfelt connection.

Nerdy, Outdoorsy, and Unapologetically Herself

When Chelsea isn’t working, you might find her gaming with her husband, adventuring with her kids, gardening, or horseback riding with her best friend of 30 years. She’s a self-proclaimed nerd, poetry writer, and car enthusiast who believes that life’s too short not to chase joy.

Even after nearly two decades of photography, she never stops learning. She invests in business education, editing software, and even shoots with both Canon and Sony because, in her words, "they each bring their own unique look."

Her clients tend to be a lot like her: down-to-earth, a little nerdy, maybe into cars or country music. They come to her because they want to feel something when they look at their wedding photos—not just remember what things looked like, but how they felt.

Why It Matters

For Chelsea, being a wedding photographer is a calling. She still cries at weddings. She knows how fragile memories can be because her own wedding photographer from her first marriage failed to capture key moments. That disappointment fuels her commitment: "I vowed no couple would ever feel that way after working with me."

She brings more than just technical skill—she brings heart. Chelsea is the kind of photographer who keeps going even when the editing queue is piling up and her body aches. She pumps music, lifts her energy, and shows up fully for every client.

She believes in the weight of what she does. "These are the photos you show your grandkids one day," she says. "They matter."

Looking Ahead

Chelsea dreams of photographing weddings in Italy, France, New Zealand, and Japan. But no matter where she’s working—be it a quiet lakeside in Alberta or a mountainside in Tuscany—she'll bring the same fire and focus to her couples' stories.

Because for Chelsea Page, it started with a toy camera and a love for capturing real life. And nearly 20 years later, she’s still doing exactly that.
