There’s a grounded magic to the way Tara Behan photographs love — not in grand gestures or Pinterest-perfect poses, but in the quiet, raw, unfiltered moments most would overlook. Based in Powell River on British Columbia’s Sunshine Coast, Tara has built her career on seeing what others might miss — and preserving it with warmth, heart, and authenticity.
She was just 11 when she first picked up a camera — a small Sony borrowed from her Nonna on a family vacation. That early spark never left. “Growing up, I was always the girl with the camera at all the events,” she says. Through high school and beyond, her love for photography deepened, eventually leading her to a professional photography program in the Comox Valley. But even with formal training, Tara considers herself mostly self-taught: “It felt like [school] just taught me the basics, not really the art that I like to create.”
That artistic vision — warm tones, candid emotion, playful movement — is now what defines Tara Glenn Photography. Over the past 15 years, Tara has photographed weddings, elopements, maternity, and newborn sessions with a signature blend of joy, sensitivity, and style. Her approach is intuitive and emotion-led: “I strive to capture moments that don’t feel super posed. I love movement and having fun.”
From Shy Beginner to Confident Storyteller
Tara’s journey from hobbyist to professional wasn’t without nerves. “My first wedding was for a couple from Alberta. I had no idea how much to charge or what to expect. But I ended up having so much fun and felt so inspired.” In fact, photography played a powerful role in helping her grow out of her shyness. “Especially with weddings — you’re meeting new people all day long. It’s pushed me to open up.”
Today, Tara balances her creative work with life as a new mom, carefully selecting around 10 weddings per year to ensure she can show up fully for her clients and her family. Most of her weddings take place locally in Powell River or on Vancouver Island, though she’s also shot in Vancouver and Alberta — and dreams of one day capturing weddings in Greece or Italy.

The Art and the Heart
Tara’s style is defined more by how she shoots than by any post-processing tricks. “I love my Canon 5D Mark IVs. My go-to lenses are the 35mm and 85mm,” she says. “I haven’t made the switch to mirrorless yet.” Her editing, done in Lightroom with some finishing touches in Photoshop, leans warm and romantic — a perfect match for her naturalistic, emotion-first storytelling.
Though she’s known for her relaxed, easygoing energy, Tara takes the emotional responsibility of wedding photography seriously. “A stressed-out couple will make everyone stressed out,” she explains. “So I try to keep things light, crack jokes, and help them feel comfortable.”
What keeps her inspired, especially during the busiest months of the year? “Juicy golden hour light in a new location,” she says with a laugh. “When I find that, my creative juices just flow.”

Rooted in Connection
Tara’s clients describe her as relaxed, fun, and trustworthy — someone who brings a calming presence to high-stakes moments. Most of her bookings come through Instagram, where her work draws couples who are up for adventure and trust her vision. “They let me be open and creative with my camera. That’s such a gift.”
It’s clear that, for Tara, photography is not just about capturing what happens — it’s about how it feels. Whether she's photographing a coastal elopement or an underwater maternity session, her work is always rooted in connection. “I love love. Human connection is so important to me. Documenting two people’s story is just so special.”
As she steps into a new season of life and motherhood, Tara remains focused on what matters most: telling honest, heartfelt stories — and showing her son what it looks like to build a life doing what you love.
